The UK will defend itself and its allies but ‘will not be drawn into wider war’ over Iran, Keir Starmer said, stressing he would always ‘prioritise the national interest.’
The prime minister said he wanted to see an end to the Iran war as quickly as possible to bring security back to the region. The longer it went on, the worse the effect on the cost of living in the UK, he said.
