Married At First Sight Australia returned to UK television screens with a fresh episode tonight (March 16) featuring an unprecedented scenario.

Audiences were presented with Series 13’s newest prospective newlyweds, Grayson McIvor, 34, and Julia Vogl, 35, whom the experts believed showed enormous promise as a match.

Their groundbreaking ceremony took place with the spectacular Sydney Opera House as the setting, as Julia made history by becoming the Australian programme’s first-ever bisexual bride. Nevertheless, she wasn’t informed beforehand about her future partner’s gender.

Whilst walking down the aisle, still uncertain whether she was about to encounter her husband or wife, Julia remarked: “It isn’t really about someone’s gender, it’s about the connection I have with them. That connection transcends gender for me.”

The pair instantly discovered chemistry together, with Grayson confessing to cameras that his heart “skipped a beat” when he first glimpsed his bride. He continued: “She’s beautiful. As soon as I saw her, everything slowed down and zoned in”, reports OK!

Julia commented about her partner: “My match is a man it turns out,” adding: “Either way, it didn’t really matter but for me I wanted to feel that spark.

“I absolutely felt that spark. He is absolutely divine, so warm, he had this kindness in his eyes. Yes, I’m happy.”

Fans were quick to comment on the heartwarming ceremony, with one noting: “Not seeing any red flags in the relationship between Julia and Grayson, so far,” whilst another dubbed the couple their favourite pairing, stating: “I already LOVE Julia and Grayson!”

“They do kinda suit each other. For once can see why Julia and Grayson were matched,” remarked another. A fourth wrote: “Julia is stunning.”

The Australian series broadcasts closely following the UK version of the programme, which also featured a bisexual bride during its most recent season. 2025 bride Leah Tyrer was paired with Leigh Harris during the tenth season of the show after requesting to be matched with a woman.

The Liverpudlian reality star revealed to DIVA Magazine before her appearance on the programme: “I feel like I connect a lot more on a deeper level with a woman. As we got through the experience and I’d hear the girls talk about intimacy with the men, I realised that I don’t talk about men like that.”

Whilst the pair separated after reaching final vows on the programme, Leah has since discovered love again with footballer Maz Pacheco.

Married At First Sight Australia airs on E4 with episodes available to catch-up on on Channel 4’s catch-up service. For the latest showbiz, TV, movie and streaming news, go to the new ** Everything Gossip ** website.
