Midtown apartment fire sends smoke into the air in Manhattan, NYC

MIDTOWN, Manhattan (WABC) — Thick plumes of black smoke are billowing from the roof of a building in Midtown on Tuesday morning.

Citizen App captured video of the scene on East 43rd Street between Fifth and Madison avenues, about a block from Grand Central.

It is believed the fire broke out on the 28th floor of the building.

Strong wind is carrying the smoke across city blocks.

There is no word yet on any injuries.

The cause of the fire is not yet known.
