The Saints continue to add to their running back room with latest veteran signing

The New Orleans Saints are continuing to add to their running back room.

The Saints signed veteran running back Ty Chandler to a one-year deal, sources with knowledge of the situation confirmed. Chandler, a 2022 fifth-round pick, spent four seasons with the Minnesota Vikings.

Chandler’s deal is worth the league minimum (roughly $1.2 million), a source said.

Chandler appeared in only three games last season, rushing for 47 yards on 17 carries. He missed most of the year with a knee injury.

The Saints’ agreement with Chandler provides depth after they made a splash to begin free agency last week by signing running back Travis Etienne. Coach Kellen Moore has been non-committal to longtime starter Alvin Kamara’s future.

Chandler, 27, also adds some speed as he ran a 4.38 40-yard dash before he was drafted.
