WASHINGTON – Cade Cunningham exited the Detroit Pistons’ road game Tuesday, March 17, against the Washington Wizards due to back spasms.
The superstar guard asked to sub out with 6:40 on the clock in the first quarter. Cunningham suffered a hard fall earlier and was slow to get back up after poking the ball away from the Wizards and diving on the floor to secure it.
The Pistons announced midway through the second quarter that Cunningham would remain out for the rest of the game. He finished with six points, two rebounds and a steal. It’s unclear if the injury will lead to an extended absence. the Pistons play the Wizards again in Washington on Thursday (7 p.m., FanDuel Sports Network Detroit Extra) before returning home Friday to host the Golden State Warriors.
