Fuel crisis escalates as petrol stations across NSW run out of fuel

Despite assurances from the government that fuel stocks across NSW are fine, dozens of petrol stations across the state are starting to run dry.

At least 42 petrol stations are reportedly out of fuel, and almost double have no diesel.

Petrol stations in Baulkham Hills have run out completely, with drivers being forced to leave without filling up.

“I was hoping I’d get some, at least a little bit,” one driver told 9News.

“We’ve got ‘out of orders’ everywhere, it’s crazy,” another said.

Drivers are pointing the finger at political leaders, here and overseas.

“The orange man (is responsible), unfortunately, he’s got a lot to answer for,” a driver told 9News.

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese warned panic buyers today, urging drivers to take no more fuel than they need.

“My message to Australians is do not take more fuel than you need, that is how you can help,” he said.

“Every single ship that was due to land here has landed here.

“This has been an issue of increased demand.”

NSW Premier Chris Minns echoed calls for calm, but acknowledged the future remains uncertain.Dozens of petrol stations across Sydney and the state are running dry. (Getty)

“Allows us more time to prepare for every eventuality if the conflict in the Persian Gulf continues,” Minns said.

The rising prices are causing Australians to look for alternatives, including public transport and even electric vehicles instead.

Google searches for electric cars have risen over the past few weeks, particularly for big manufacturers like Tesla and BYD.
