Purdue basketball adds to 2026 recruiting class with prospect who has other commitment to honor

Purdue men’s basketball’s latest commitment will attend to other commitments before joining the Boilermakers in 2028.
Jamyn Sondrup, a 6-foot-9 forward from Springville, Utah, made his verbal commitment public Thursday night. While he is a member of the 2026 class, he will take a two-year Mormon mission and will not join the Boilermakers until 2028.
Sondrup is a three-star prospect ranked No. 154 in the 2026 class per the Rivals industry rankings. He picked Purdue over Washington, BYU, Ole Miss ad Utah, among others.

Sondrup averaged 13.8 points and 5.4 rebounds at EYBL Peach Jam in the summer. He averaged 17.8 point, 12.5 rebounds and 1.5 blocks for Springville this season.
The 2026 class is a diversified group already. Mt. Vernon’s Luke Ertel is a combo guard, the La Lumiere duo of Jacob Webber (wing) and Rivers Knight (power forward) boost the frontcourt, and they added a 7-footer in Sinan Huan.
The Boilermakers also won a transfer commitment from Princeton’s Caden Pierce, brother to Colts’ star receiver Alec Pierce.
