Coronation Street reveals two surprise allies for evil Megan Walsh

Coronation Street spoilers follow for the latest episode to air on ITV1 and stream on ITVX and YouTube.

Coronation Street has revealed some surprising new allies for for evil groomer Megan Walsh after she was arrested by the police in yesterday’s episode.

While Will is fighting Megan’s corner due to how she’s manipulated him, the latest instalment showed that there are others trying to disprove the (entirely true) accusations against her.

Yesterday’s episode showed that Adam Barlow and Alya Nazir’s private emails from their legal practice had leaked online, and it turns out that those two storylines are connected.

In tonight’s episode, Adam and Alya continued to reel from the hack, worried that it could “kill us stone dead”, especially after Ronnie Bailey came into the café and had a go at them for the things they said about his wife Debbie Webster.

Later on, Leanne approached Alya while she was drafting a statement, and they discussed the Megan situation. Leanne was adamant Megan was guilty for how she tormented Sam Blakeman, and warned Alya to avoid the legal case “like the plague”.

However, her advice wasn’t listened to.

Later on, we saw Adam sitting with Megan in the police interview room, where Kit Green questioned her. Adam claimed that all the accusations against her were “hearsay” and that there’s no hard evidence.

In Speed Daal, legal rival Rich Pemberton – who Adam is convinced is behind the leak – turned up and mentioned quite loudly that he knew Alya and Adam were defending Megan.

Leanne overheard that, and raged at Alya. Although Alya protested that Adam couldn’t turn down Daniel Osbourne’s request, Leanne didn’t care, stating: “If you’re representing her, you deserve to go under.”

Speaking of Daniel, he went to the Rovers and told Will’s dad Ben that he himself had been accused of something similar, when a pupil had developed a crush on him and it got out of control.

Ben wouldn’t accept that it was “unrequited crush”, and said he pitied Daniel from the hard crash down to Earth he’s soon going to face when they prove Megan is a groomer.

But will the family be able to get justice, or will Megan use her allies to squirm out of it?

Coronation Street has worked on Will and Megan’s grooming storyline with support from Barnardo’s. Support and information is available via the charity’s website.

Coronation Street airs on weeknights at 8.30pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
