Amherst, Pictou County, Edmundston pick up wins in Metalfab MHL Cup Playoffs

Ramblers edged Summerside in overtime to take series lead
Jacob Kaine scored the lone goal of the game with 21 seconds left in overtime as Amherst beat Summerside 1-0 at Credit Union Place to take a 2-1 lead in their Eastlink South Division Semi-Final. The deciding goal came after a double minor penalty against the Western Capitals’ Eliott Robert for high sticking.
Ramblers goaltender Brandon Lavoie made 17 saves, including 21 in the second period, to register the shutout. Kolten Bourret returned in net after Justin Robinson got the start in Game 2, and made 24 saves in the loss.
Game 4 is back in Amherst on Saturday night.
Pictou County avoids elimination against Truro with Game 4 win
Ethan Dickson capped a four-goal second period for the Weeks Crushers, who pushed the Eastlink South Division Semi-Final to Game 5 with a 4-3 home win over Truro on Thursday.
The Bearcats, who were looking for the series sweep, were up 3-0 after the 1st period. The goals came from Samuel Vachon at 4:03 on the powerplay, Jake Todd at 13:18, and on the powerplay from Callum Aucoin at 19:22.
Pictou County tied things up in the second period with three goals in under four minutes. Matthew McDonald got the scoring started for the home side at 5:41, followed by Kaden Smith at 7:18. The tying goal came on the powerplay from Will Allen at 9:27. Dickson’s goal at 12:03 put the Crushers up for good.
Yianni Karkoulas was back in goal in Game 4 after being pulled in Game 2 and made 28 saves for the win. Truro’s Sam Berthiaume made 45 saves in the loss. Game 5 is Saturday night in Truro.
Edmundston push West Kent to the brink after a 3rd period comeback
The Edmundston Blizzard are a win away from returning to the Eastlink North Division Final after a 4-3 win in Grand-Bouctouche on Thursday night.
West Kent jumped out to an early 2-0 lead with goals at 2:18 from Olivier Leblanc and at 3:31 from Zachary Boudreau. Charles-Éric Tremblay got a goal back for Edmundston at 6:53. The Blizzard’s Émile Fournier had the lone goal of the 2nd period, scoring at 9:11 to tie things 2-2.
In the 3rd period, Austin Sanchez scored at 14:42 to put the Steamers back up 3-2, but the Blizzard weren’t done yet. Justin Bouchard-Trottier scored at 16:20 to tie the game at 3, and Zachary Robichaud scored at 18:35 to push Edmundston to a 4-3 win and a 3-0 series lead.
Cedric Massé made 25 saves in the win, while Xavier Farrah made 49 saves in the loss for West Kent.
