With the leaders on the back nine, there are now four players tied for the lead: Matt Fitzpatrick (thru 10), Brandt Snedeker (10), Jordan Smith (15) and David Lipsky (10). Smith is 5 under for his round and is looking to post the new lowest score in the clubhouse, which Xander Schauffele has at 8 under. The leaders are tied at 9 under.
Even more players are in contention for the lead now. Matt Fitzpatrick and Marco Penge are among the group at 9 under after the latest bogeys from the leaders.
Just like that, there’s a three-way tie for the lead with 16 holes to go for the final pair. Sungjae Im makes bogey on the second hole and drops to 10 under. Meanwhile, Brandt Snedeker and David Lipsky each birdied the first to reach 10 under.
Game on.
That’s one way to escape the Snake Pit. Hank Lebioda holes out for eagle on his final hole of the Valspar to get into the clubhouse at 5 under.
Not a bad start for X-Man, who started with four straight circles on his card. Unfortunately, he had a three-putt bogey on the par-5 fifth to drop a shot.
