Investigators said La Plata police officers were flagged down by two people in the area of La Plata Road and Radio Station Road on Sunday night just before 10:30 p.m.
The two people said they had been in the backseat of a car Webber was driving when the athlete shot and killed a man, according to a news release. Deputies said Webber had gotten into an argument with the passenger in the front seat — Bradrick Michael Wells, 27, of Waldorf — and shot the man, killing him.
Investigators said Webber then pulled over in the area of Radio Station Road and Llano Drive and asked the other passengers to help him pull the body from the car. The witnesses refused, got out of the car and took off, according to the release.
Deputies said Webber then drove off with the body still in the car. Nearly two hours later, someone living in the 10000 block of Newport Church Road in Charlotte Hall reported a body was found in their front yard.
Investigators said Webber’s car was tracked down to Charlottesville. He was found at a nearby hospital being treated for a medical issue, according to the release. Webber was released and arrested.
He is now awaiting extradition back to Charles County, where he will face charges of first-degree murder, second-degree murder, and other related charges.
