Extras are being sought for The Statement, a new movie by director Tom McCarthy (Spotlight, The Station Agent) shooting in the St. Petersburg area April 6-8.
Based on Nathaniel Rich’s book Losing Earth: A Recent History, the “dramatic, darkly comic” film starring Paul Rudd, Paul Giamatti and John Turturro is set at a Florida beach town in 1980, when the global conversation about climate change began.
In its review, NPR said this about Rich’s book: “Reading like a Greek tragedy, Losing Earth shows how close we came to making the right choices – if it weren’t for our darker angels.”
According to Deadline, the movie, to be distributed by Sony Pictures Classics, also stars Amy Ryan, Evan Peters and Tatiana Maslaney.
Frontrunner Casting is paying $200 for 12 hours’ work. Extras must send in name, age, phone number and city of residence; height, weight and wardrobe sizes; two recent photos (and headshot and a head-to-toe full body).
The company is also looking for original vehicles from the years 1965-1979 with “no wild modifications.” There will be a $150 pay bump if the period vehicle is chosen for the film.
