Lottery ticket worth $15 million sold in Sonoma County

A winning scratcher ticket sold in Cloverdale made one lucky player $15 million richer, according to the California Lottery.
The winning ticket, a $40 Royal Jackpot Scratchers game, was sold at Quik Stop convenience store and gas station, at 601 N Cloverdale Blvd in Cloverdale, California Lottery spokesperson Yvonne Vazquez said in a Thursday, March 19, phone call.
A store employee who answered the phone Thursday confirmed the store had sold the ticket, but declined further comment.
The winner still needs to claim the jackpot, according to a March 18 news release, which is the the highest payout for the game.
The chances of winning one of the game’s five top prizes are 1 in 3 million.
As with any scratchers top prize of $1 million or more, Vazquez said Quik Stop will earn a bonus of one-half of 1% of the prize, or $75,000.
The ticket is the first lottery ticket worth more than $1 million reported to be sold in Sonoma County in 2026. In January, a Powerball ticket worth $364,462 was sold at a Safeway supermarket in Sonoma.
