Spencer Miles makes Blue Jays’ opening-day roster, Leo Jimenez DFA’d

With Opening Day right around the corner, we’re getting a finalized look at how the Toronto Blue Jays will line up.

The Blue Jays selected the reliever from the San Francisco Giants in December’s Rule 5 Draft and Miles has been competing with right-hander Chase Lee for the final bullpen spot throughout spring training.

The 25-year-old Miles was sidelined in 2025 as he recovered from Tommy John surgery.

He spent the 2024 season in the Arizona Complex League, pitching to a 4.91 ERA with 10 strikeouts in 7.2 innings.

Through 9.2 spring-training innings with the Blue Jays, Miles has a 3.72 ERA with 11 strikeouts and five walks.

Sportsnet’s Shi Davidi also reported that infielder Leo Jimenez has been designated for assignment, which appears to pave the way for Davis Schneider to make the opening-day roster.

Jimenez appeared in 18 games in 2025 for the Blue Jays and owned a 0.69/.129/.172 slash line with one home run and one RBI in 29 plate appearances.

The Blue Jays open their 2026 campaign on Friday against the Athletics. Watch live on Sportsnet and Sportsnet+ at 7 p.m. ET / 4 p.m. PT.
