LIVE! Manchester United vs. Bayern Munich: Women’s Champions League — game time, how to watch, match discussion

It’s here: the business end of the season.

For the Bayern Munich women, this is the time of year to show that everything they have accomplished in the league can also translate to Europe. The Frauen-Bundesliga title is just about in hand, with the gap ever widening, but UEFA Women’s Champions League success has eluded the Bavarians. Is this the year to change the narrative?

There’s no better time to start than the first leg of the quarterfinals at Old Trafford against a very beatable Manchester United side.

Momoko Tanikawa is back, fresh off an AFC Women’s Asian Cup victory for Japan, although key players Klara Bühl and Jovana Damnjanović remain out.

“It’s these games that you want to experience as a player,” Bayern and former WSL star Pernille Harder said in pre-match comments captured via FCBayern.com.

Added head coach José Barcala: “The Champions League is a different sort of competition, with different games, different challenges and different emotions. Our job is to come through all these phases with experience and maturity, and to show that we’re ready for exactly these kinds of games. It’s really special to play in a stadium like Old Trafford, with its great history. That gives us additional motivation.”
