Taskmaster’s new series confirms return date – and it’s really soon

Taskmaster has confirmed when the new season will premiere – and fans won’t have too long to wait. As per tradition, the hit comedy series has already unveiled its star-studded line-up, with the new episodes set to see a number of huge names compete.
They are Hollywood star Kumail Nanjiani, The Thick of It‘s Armando Iannucci, Gavin & Stacey‘s Joanna Page, Last One Laughing UK star Amy Gledhill and The Masked Singer‘s Joel Dommett.
It’s now been confirmed that season 21 will debut on Thursday, 9 April at 9pm on Channel 4, while it will later stream on the Taskmaster YouTube channel globally at 10pm BST/5pm EST/2pm PST following the format change last season.

While we’ll have to wait a few weeks to see what hilarious antics the contestants got up to, creator Alex Horne has teased a “never-before-seen” show moment featuring Nanjiani.
“There is a moment involving Kumail Nanjiani,” he recently told RadioTimes.com. “I don’t want to give much away, but he gives a lot away about what he does by himself in his hotel room. So that’s what you’ve got to tune in for.
“He surprised himself by what he revealed, and I was sat next to him, and it’s a big moment. It’s a never-before-seen Taskmaster moment.”
Horne also revealed that Iannucci surprised him – but in a way that fans wouldn’t expect.

“He’s a comedy legend and a very clever man, you’d think,” he noted. “Not on Taskmaster! It turns out Armando is an idiot, which is so nice to [know].
“I found him quite daunting to meet and work with, but within five minutes, you realise he’s the same as everyone else. He crumbles under pressure.”
The last main season of Taskmaster was won by Maisie Adam, who is currently appearing in the second season of Last One Laughing UK alongside Gledhill.
Taskmaster season 21 will premiere on Thursday, 9 April at 9pm on Channel 4, and will stream on the Channel 4 YouTube channel later.
