Three feared dead as truck crashes into parked trailer in Kano

At least three persons are feared dead following a road accident involving a truck loaded with lemons and a stationary trailer in Imawa town, Kura Local Government Area of Kano State.

The crash occurred in the early hours of Monday when the driver of the lemon-laden truck reportedly lost control and rammed into a trailer that had been parked by the roadside after developing a mechanical fault.

An eyewitness, Zailani Umar Imawa, said residents nearby rushed to the scene immediately after hearing the loud impact.

According to him, three occupants of the lemon truck were found with severe injuries shortly after the collision.

“We were sitting nearby when we suddenly saw the lemon truck crash into the trailer. When we rushed to the scene, the three people inside the truck were badly injured,” he said.

Umar Imawa added that the victims appeared to be in critical condition, noting that two of them could barely move their bodies, while another was heard calling for help before emergency responders arrived.

Officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) later evacuated the injured victims to a hospital for treatment.

However, they were reportedly confirmed dead shortly after arriving at the medical facility.

The identities of the victims, as well as details of the truck’s ownership, had yet to be confirmed as of the time of filing this report.

Meanwhile, the Federal Road Safety Corps in Kano has not issued an official statement on the incident.
