Tiger Woods involved in rollover crash on Jupiter Island

Professional golfer Tiger Woods was involved in a crash in Jupiter on Friday afternoon, according to authorities.

Just after 2 p.m., deputies say Eldrick Tont “Tiger” Woods was involved in a rollover crash near 281 Beach Road on Jupiter Island. The Martin County Sheriff’s Office said it is actively investigating the incident. No additional information was immediately released.

Sheriff John Budensiek is expected to be available for media sound at 5 p.m. at Jupiter Island Town Hall.

Authorities said no further details will be provided until that time.

According to a source at Martin County Fire Rescue, it was a two-car crash, one vehicle was a rollover. One person is stable, while another refused to go to the hospital. MCFR said there are no injuries to anyone.

Woods was involved in notable vehicle crashes before Friday. The most significant previous incident occurred on February 23, 2021, when Woods was injured in a single-vehicle rollover crash in Rolling Hills Estates near Los Angeles. Authorities said Woods lost control of his SUV at a high rate of speed, left the roadway, and struck a tree. He suffered serious injuries to his right leg, requiring multiple surgeries, though investigators later determined the crash was an accident and ruled out impairment.

Another well-known crash happened on November 27, 2009, near Woods’ home in Windermere, Florida. In that incident, Woods crashed his SUV into a fire hydrant and a tree just outside his driveway. He was treated for minor injuries and released from the hospital. The crash later became tied to a widely publicized personal scandal but did not result in criminal charges related to the collision itself.
