Coronation Street star Samia Longchambon has been flooded with messages of support as she shared a candid update on the ‘stress’ she has been feeling of late.

The actress, who is famed for playing Maria Windass in the ITV soap, has previously opened up about her own anxiety battle and regularly shares with her followers if she may be having a bad day, what helps her or how she combats her feelings of anxiety and tries to stay calm such as partaking in a yoga session in her Corrie dressing room.

The Eccles-born star even previously revealed that she found herself receiving an asthma diagnosis as a child when she was actually suffering from crippling anxiety.

In a recent Instagram post, Samia shared a selfie alongside a message which seemingly resonated with others, as she told her followers: “Got a few things swimming around in my head at the moment causing a bit of stress, I’m all good but I’ve been thinking about these lyrics from one of my favourite songs today that helped!

“‘Sometimes you’re ahead, Sometimes you’re behind.. the race is long, and in the end it’s only with yourself’. 10 points for anyone who knows the song and if you’re having a busy/ stressful time then sending you a virtual #thistooshalłpass #positivethinking.”

And it didn’t take long for the comments to come flooding in. @scillyanna97 said: “God I needed to hear this today. I know how you feel. No idea on the song what is it? Sending lots of love.” @xjeankellyx commented: “Sending you love and hugs from me in Dublin. You are a gorgeous lady Samia and a wonderful actress. Maria is my favourite character on the cobbles. I am so proud to be your fan.”

@aristocatch shared: “This too will pass. Be good to yourself & do what makes you happy – read, eat chocolate, watch a favourite film, anything that helps to sweep your mind clear. I’m waiting for Maria to get vexed on Corrie – you portray a good mad Maria. Love & light.” @laura.willis.7777 posted: “Love that song! So cathartic and meaningful the older you get!! Sometimes we are behind…and that’s ok.” @catherinexx12 added: “Idk this song but sounds good already!! Sending love you’re awesome.”

Samia first arrived on the cobbles as Maria Sutherland – now Windass – in 2000 after beating Girls Aloud’s Kimberley Walsh and Hear’Say star Suzanne Shaw to land the role.

The character was first seen working in the kennels belonging to her father, Eric. Tyrone Dobbs and Jack Duckworth brought Tyrone’s greyhound, Monica, in to look for a stud to mate with but Maria and Tyrone were immediately attracted to one another and the pair began a relationship.

Since then, there have been plenty of failed relationships for Maria, including with Tyrone, Jason Grimshaw, and Luke Britton. But there have also been heartbreaking scenes when she delivered a stillborn baby boy, the son of Liam Connor, and when Liam was later killed in a hit-and-run organised by Tony Gordon.

In more recent years, the sassy hairstylist turned eco-warrior became a Weatherfield councillor – which got her into some bother, including with an extremist gang who threatened the lives of people living on the street over her refugee help plans. It also led to Alya Nazir saving her life when teenager Blake went to attack her during an event organised to highlight the Weatherfield refugee drop in centre.

But heartbreakingly, Maria was also faced with the fact her son, Liam Connor, wass being badly bullied both at school and online by the later Mason Radcliffe and former friend Dylan Wilson, with the teen sinking into such despair he considered taking his own life.
