First posted on Friday, the “No. 17 Ohtani Souvenir Soda Cup” will cost you only $74.99 and includes free refills for the one game you’re at.
After the cup got posted, Dodgers fans and even Dodgers detractors alike agreed that the offer was outrageous, wondering if it was handcrafted by Ohtani himself to be so expensive.
“That can not possibly say $75 for a cup,” one fan wrote.
“They put his name on the cup, so at least you know what you’re helping pay for,” chimed in another baseball fan on X.
“Can you defer payments over the next 20 years?” asked sports podcast host Bart Winkler.
Be it a mistake or the uproar forcing a change, the Ohtani cup was discounted to $68.99 and, more importantly, now allows free soda refills throughout the entire season.
With sodas costing upwards of over $10 at Dodgers games to begin with, the Ohtani cup went from the most overpriced concession item at the ballpark to possibly, like Ohtani himself, the best value you can find at Dodger Stadium this year.
