A stretch of Highway 99 north of Squamish is closed in both directions after a crash near Mount Garibaldi, according to DriveBC. 

DriveBC says the closure is in place between Alice Lake Road and Daisy Lake Road.

In a social media post, Squamish Fire Rescue said crews are currently trying to clear the scene and reopen the highway with air support also involved.

DriveBC says its next update is scheduled for 8 p.m., and it warns travellers to expect significant delays between Squamish and Whistler as traffic builds.

Some motorists are also posting online about long lines of vehicles backed up along the route.

There is no word yet on how many vehicles were involved, injuries or what may have led to the crash.
