Max Dowman scores and provides two assists as England U19s beat Portugal but fail to qualify for U19 Euros

Arsenal starlet Max Dowman scored and provided two assists as England U19s won 6-0 against Portugal today in their final Elite Round qualifier.
Despite their victory, England failed to qualify for the U19 Euros as Serbia beat Poland 1-0. Arsenal’s Louis Zecevic John played the first 45 minutes for Serbia.
Dowman provided his first assist of the game after just four minutes as he set up Jesse Derry to open the scoring.
Early in the second half Dowman made it 2-0 as he scored himself in impressive fashion following a trademark run.
Dowman then set up Derry to score again before being replaced in the 71st minute.
Ezra Mayers added a fourth goal for England in an emphatic victory, with Shim Mheuka and Harry Howell later scoring, but it wasn’t enough for qualification.
Elsewhere, Ceadach O’Neill came on as an early substitute and scored a penalty for Northern Ireland U19s in their 1-0 win against Kazakhstan. Northern Ireland failed to make it through to the Euros as they finished in second place in their group.
Patrick Stachow came on in the 75th minute as Poland U17s drew 1-1 with Croatia.
Jack Porter was named on the bench as England U18s beat Croatia 2-0, while Marli Salmon missed out through suspension as England U17s won 2-0 against Estonia.
