Seattle Seahawks to feature on HBO’s ‘Hard Knocks’ for first time

After more than two decades on the air, Hard Knocks is finally going to feature the Seattle Seahawks.
Fresh off of winning the Super Bowl, the reigning champions will have this summer’s training camp chronicled by the long-running documentary series. The news was revealed at the NFL’s annual league meeting in Arizona on Monday. For good measure, the New England Patriots are already booked for 2027 to end their Hard Knocks drought.
The Seahawks were approached for Hard Knocks prior to the 2012 and 2013 seasons, with John Schneider expressing his lack of desire to see HBO and NFL Films pulling up to Renton to film them.
“We understand the interest in this show, but would not want to bring a ton of attention to ourselves,” Schneider said at the time.
There was once strict criteria for NFL teams to be Hard Knocks eligible, but those have been eased and the Seahawks fit the bill as a team that just has to be filmed for “behind the scenes” television that was once cutting edge and now is anything but.
On the plus side, if you’re going to training camp, perhaps this is your chance to end up on HBO and say you were on the same network that had Succession, The Wire, Euphoria, Entourage, Game of Thrones, Veep, The Sopranos, Curb Your Enthusiasm, The Larry Sanders Show, Taxicab Confessions, and Arli$$.
Perhaps I’m being too cynical! Are you looking forward to Mike Macdonald’s men being on Hard Knocks? Let us know in the comments!
