A second system comes on Thursday. This one will be stronger with more hazardous road conditions. It starts with snow moving in from Wisconsin on Wednesday night into Thursday. Projected snowfall amounts are trending 3-6″.
The system has a more westerly track, which will put the U.P. in the warm sector. This will result in a transition to widespread freezing rain as warmer air moves in. It lasts into the afternoon with showers developing near Lake Michigan. Projected ice accumulations are trending around a quarter of an inch to half an inch. You can expect hazardous travel conditions as roads become slushy and icy!
Most of the precipitation will be out of the region by Friday morning. A third system will come in on Saturday. This one starts with freezing rain on Friday night, and it transitions to rain on Saturday afternoon. Stay tuned for updates on this one.
