2 men admit to stealing copper, building materials from abandoned AMC Theater

FORSYTH, Ill. (WAND) – Two men were arrested after deputies said they admitted to stealing copper pipes and building materials from the abandoned AMC Theater in Forsyth.
According to a news release, Macon County Sheriff’s deputies were called to the theater at the Hickory Point Mall on March 30 at 11:50 p.m.
Deputies and a K9 officer responded. They saw signs of forced entry into the abandoned building. They said they found two men inside who were stealing copper pipes, electrical wiring and breaker boxes, and other building material.
Michael Large, 43, and Kelsey Sandage, 40, were arrested and charged with Criminal Damage to Property over $100,000, Burglary, and Possession of Burglary Tools.
The release said the suspects admitted to entering the abandoned theater at least four times over the past few weeks.The initial damage to the theater was discovered last week, so deputies were watching the building.
Large and Sandage were taken to the Macon County Jail where they were later released with a notice to appear. Their court date is set for April 14.
