2026’s most shocking April Fools’ Day jokes you missed, from Tesco, HEINZ, IKEA and more

It’s here! The funniest day of the year has landed as today is 1st April aka April Fools’ Day, and with it comes some of the most shocking jokes we’ve seen from some of our favourite brands.

Every year all the big brands from supermarkets, to beauty brands, to travel companies all share their own version of an April Fools’ joke, and this year is no different. Starting at around 7am this morning social media was flooded with “new” product launches or collaborations.

So did you spot them all? These are the most shocking and hilarious April Fools’ jokes we’ve seen so far this year.

The most shocking 2026 April Fools’ jokes

ASDA launches ‘adult size trolly seats’

Ok we’re actually kinda gutted this isn’t becoming a thing. But for ASDA’s April Fools’ joke this year they have “introduced” a new adult size trolley seat which will have a built in armchair, complete with a cupholder and phone holder.

The supermarket said the new chair was designed to, “keep bored partners, distracted teens and unhelpful shopping sidekicks safely contained whilst on the weekly shop.”

See the new design plans here:

The supermarket said the new chairs will be rolled out just in time for Christmas. Imagine the chaos!

Tesco’s giant boiled Easter Egg

Calling all gym bros! Tesco finally has the perfect Easter Egg for you as today they “revealed” they are launching a brand new giant sized boiled egg.

The supermarket shared a Reel on their Instagram earlier this morning promoting the new egg with two supermarket workers holding the egg while doing a workout.

The chocolate Babybels

We all love a Babybel, but a chocolate Babybel? Yeah not so much.

However, for their April Fools joke this year, Babybel revealed they have “teamed up with @montybojangles to create Choccybel – a playful mash-up of creamy Babybel cheese and chocolatey truffle goodness.”

Fancy trying the new creation? Here’s what it looks like:

Babybel

We’re skipping this one.

IKEA’s meatball lollipop

Yesterday IKEA started to tease a big meatball reveal when they posted on their Instagram grid, “something’s coming”. And today they revealed the “big” news is they’re “introducing” a meatball lollipop collaboration with iconic lollipop brand Chupa Chups.

Posting about the “new” invention, the brand said: “We heard you like Swedish candy 🍭 So here’s the sweetest mashup no one asked for, but everyone will want to taste!”

Yeah we’re not sure about this one.

Hyrox ‘bans’ shirtless runners

Fitness competition Hyrox which is known to see many male competitors take part in the race without a shirt on, has today “declared” they would now be imposing a ban on running shirtless.

They added anyone who completed the race without a shirt would be given a 67 second time penalty.

Boots Optician’s windscreen wiper glasses

This is actually a pretty cool idea and we’re sad it’s not going to come to fruition. However, earlier this morning Boots Opticians announced the arrival of their “Willow and Rain” lenses which would come complete with mini wipers for your lenses to wipe away the rain.

They said: “Because there’s only one choice for the British weather, exclusively available at Boots Opticians 💙 Introducing the latest release from Willow and Rain with lenses made for whatever the sky throws your way. Light-reactive for the sun and wipers for the rain ☀️🌧️.”

Sadly this just seems to be an April Fools joke.

Zizzi’s candyfloss pizza invention

We all like a sweet treat, and Zizzi is really testing that theory with their “new” candy floss pizza which will involve a hanging tomato candy floss above your pizza that you can then pull apart and add to your pizza.

Jammie Dodgers removes the jam

Yes you read that correctly, earlier today the biscuit brand “revealed” they were planning to sell bags of just the middle part of the Jammie Dodgers.

In a statement on their Instagrams they said: “Before you say it: yes, we really did just give the middles their own bag. 😏 Meet the missing piece you didn’t know you needed.❤️”

This actually sounds like a great idea TBH.

Heinz’ matcha mayo

For the matcha lovers out there, you’ll be very happy to knwo that for today at least Heinz is “selling” a new matcha mayo made in collaboartion with PerfectTed.

They began teasing the new product yesterday and today revealed thier brand “new” mayo that is “a bold new take on your favourite sauce, inspired by the flavour everyone’s obsessed with right now.”

They’ve then showed a video of how to use the matcha mayo with chips, chicken wings and sandwiches and we’re honestly not sure how to feel:

Dyson Beauty’s pet range

Dyson Beauty is known for their AirWrap and now they’re doing one for pets, well sort of.

This April Fools the brand said it was “launching” a new range for pets, that includes: “Airstrait Mane+Tail, with ultra-stable temperature control. Airwrap Fur provides integrated flea detection and delivers 90% more bounce. The Airwrap Topcoat gives 80% more fetching sheen.”

Sadly for our pets their glossy manes will have to wait a while for this actually to be a reality.

Heathrow Express’ Training Train

You now never need to miss a workout as the Heathrow Express said today it was teaming up with PureGym “to launch a brand‑new way to get pumped for your holiday, on the go!”

The trains are said to allow you to “enjoy a 15‑minute, high‑energy workout while travelling from Paddington to Heathrow. Expect travel‑inspired moves like luggage lunges and overhead‑locker lifts – all designed to get you feeling energised before take‑off.”

Dreams’ new rehydrate mattress

Waterbeds aren’t exactly new, but now for Dreams’ April Fools the bed brand is launching a full on water mattress that literally allows you to take a drink during your sleep, as they found 34 per cent of Brits wake up thirsty!
