The extended Easter weekend is fast approaching, with many eagerly anticipating a much-needed rest. For those lucky enough to not have to work across the four-day weekend, the break provides ample opportunity to pop to the shops for any final purchases you might need ahead of Easter celebrations.
For those planning a supermarket visit to begin the bank holiday weekend, all of Britain’s leading supermarkets have announced their trading hours for Good Friday (Friday, April 3).
Customers are advised to verify their nearest branch for any differences in opening times. Details of the changes for all major retailers, including their petrol forecourts and local convenience shops, can be found below.

ASDA
ASDA has announced that the majority of its larger outlets will trade from 7am to 10pm on Friday, April 3. Standard trading hours may differ between locations, so shoppers are encouraged to confirm individual store times using its Store Locator, reports the Express.
The retailer has also confirmed that all of its petrol forecourts feature pay at the pump facilities, ensuring they remain accessible throughout the Easter weekend.
Aldi
The discount retailer has confirmed that stores will operate from 8am to 9pm on Good Friday. Aldi has suggested that shoppers visiting between 8am and 9am, or during the evening, will encounter the quietest periods for any last-minute shopping.
Shoppers are once again recommended to verify local branch hours online for any weekend variations.
Lidl
Lidl confirmed that its stores across England and Wales will operate as normal on Good Friday. Scottish branches will also be open, however customers should note that trading hours will be reduced, running from 9am to 10pm.
The discount retailer also confirmed that all stores will operate on standard opening hours on Saturday, April 4.
M&S
M&S has confirmed that all of its stores will be open on Good Friday, though opening times will differ between locations. Shoppers are advised to visit M&S’s online store locator to check the specific hours for their nearest branch.
M&S has also announced the launch of a special Easter Dine-In range, which goes live on Wednesday, April 1 and runs through until Sunday, April 5.
Morrisons
On Friday, April 3, the majority of Morrisons stores will be open from 7am to 10pm, though opening hours may differ by location. Customers are encouraged to use the supermarket’s store finder tool to confirm their local branch’s hours.
Sainsbury’s
Sainsbury’s has confirmed that most of its supermarkets will be open from 7am until 11pm on both Good Friday and Easter Saturday. Sainsbury’s convenience stores will also maintain their usual hours of 7am to 11pm.
As opening times may vary by location, customers are advised to consult the store locator for up-to-date information on their nearest branch.
Tesco
The majority of Tesco’s larger stores across England, Wales and the Isle of Man will be open from 6am to 10pm on Good Friday. Stores in Scotland and Northern Ireland will operate on their usual trading hours.
Most Large Express branches will also be open from 6am to 10pm, while standard Express stores will remain unaffected, keeping their regular hours.
Tesco has noted that opening times may differ depending on location, and encourages shoppers to use its online store locator to check their nearest branch. Customers can also use the locator to verify Petrol Filling Station hours, as these may differ from the main store’s trading times.
Waitrose
Waitrose has confirmed that its stores will be trading on Good Friday, though some branches may operate on reduced hours. Most locations are expected to open between 7.30am or 8am, closing at either 9pm or 10pm.
