On March 29, Jonesboro police responded to a call reporting a subject with a weapon at the Walmart on Harrisburg Road.

The victim told police he and a witness were at Walmart to pick up a delivery order when a white SUV drove through the parking lot as he was loading his vehicle.

The victim said the suspect, who the victim did not know, pointed a firearm equipped with a laser at his chest.

The witness said the suspect initially stopped the vehicle and said, “It’s Walmart policy, bro — yeah, you remember me.” The witness further said the suspect then said, “I’ll beat your a— and blow your f—ing brains out.”

The victim then walked to the vehicle when the suspect pointed the weapon with a laser at him. The suspect was identified as Jones. Officers found video footage of the incident.

On March 31, Jones went to the Jonesboro Police Department for an interview.

“After asking Jones about the incident, Jones admitted to exchanging words with the victim but denied saying he was going to blow his brains out,” the affidavit said. “Jones stated he didn’t say he would blow his brains out but stated that he would kill him. Jones admitted to pointing his Sig Sauer BB gun at the victim’s chest because he felt threatened.”

Police arrested Jones, and Boling ordered him not to possess any weapons and set his bond at $5,000 cash or surety.

Jones is scheduled to be arraigned on May 18.
