Amazon Prime’s most entertaining car reviewing program is making a return. The Grand Tour will launch a new season on September 4, the streamer announced in a series of Instagram posts. With the old guard of James May, Jeremy Clarkson, and Richard Hammond focusing on other projects, the show will be taken over by a new trio of hosts.
Amazon officially announced the hosts in February, but reintroduced them to the world in its new posts, headlined by the phrase “Same show. New knobs.”
According to Amazon, the new season will launch with six episodes, which will be available to binge on September 4. Amazon promises that the new season will include crossing the Angola desert in dedicated track cars, exploring Malaysia’s car culture, testing cutting-edge performance cars in California, and challenging an entire nation’s legal system.
Some fans will already know Canadians James Engelsman and Thomas Holland as the hosts of the popular Throttle House YouTube channel. The pair review cars and mix in their own flavor of banter. They’ll be joined by Francis Bourgeois, a British TikTok star. Bourgeois, best known for his train-spotting videos, describes himself as a railway enthusiast and mechanical engineer on his social media.

The new hosts will have to win over fans who came to love the comfortable banter among Clarkson, May, and Hammond. It’ll be a tough line to toe for the trio to keep the show similar enough to the old format without feeling like they’re trying to simply echo their predecessors.
However, the new hosts aren’t starting from zero. Jeremy Clarkson, the official/unofficial leader of the old guard, has already given his blessing for the new trio. In February, the official Grand Tour account posted a video with Clarkson reading through applications for new hosts. While some were discarded for having facial hair and others for being James May, Clarkson gave his seal of approval for Engelsman, Holland, and Bourgeois. Come September, it’ll be time for the fans to make their decision.
