Drivers on the M6 are facing traffic chaos this afternoon following a huge crash that has brought vehicles to a standstill on a stretch of the motorway. The collision on the northbound carriageway has also brought the A500 to a halt.
The crash occurred near Junction 16 (Stoke-on-Trent), with two lanes currently closed. Emergency services have rushed to the scene of the collision. National Highways has warned drivers face delays of up to 45 minutes. It wrote on X: “Lanes 2 and 3 (of 3) are closed on the #M6 northbound at J16 #StokeOnTrent because of a collision. There are currently delays of 45 minutes above normal travel time. Please allow extra time for your journey.”
