M6 and M61 traffic LIVE updates as long queues build after crash during Easter getaway

Anyone thinking of hitting the road and heading north from Greater Manchester for an Easter getaway could see their plans scuppered a bit this afternoon.

There are long delays on both the M6 and M61 northbound following a crash in Lancashire.

The incident took place between junctions 32 at Preston and 33 at Lancaster South, with a lane closed through that area.

Queues of around half an hour have built up on the M6 northbound, while there are also delays on the M61 for drivers approaching the M6.

It is affecting motorists heading towards Blackpool, the Lake District and Scotland on Good Friday, when roads are expected to be busy for the start of the bank holiday weekend.

Updates will follow in this blog.
