TV personality Lorraine Kelly’s daughter Rosie Smith has spoken out about her ordeal after a man allegedly threatened to kill her fiancé in front of their baby. Rosie is Lorraine’s only child with husband Steve Smith.

She made Lorraine a grandmother in August 2024 when she and partner Steve White welcomed little Billie Kelly Smith-White into the world. However, she described a “bizarre time” shortly after their daughter was born, as she was struggling with postpartum anxiety following a planned C-section at 38 weeks.

Speaking on The Life of Bryony podcast alongside her mother, she said: “It was a really bizarre time. So we were walking, one of our first pram walks. I couldn’t go out and walk because I was in so much pain from the C-section and from being so tired. No one talks about how painful it is.

“I didn’t want to go out but we did it and I was crossing the road and I was obviously not being able to walk that fast. So this guy started shouting at me and said ‘hurry up,’ he swore and everything, and then I can’t really remember.

“It was all a bit of a blur but he said something about how he was going to kill Steve and do it in front of our baby because we had the pram and stuff,” reports the Mirror.

Rosie revealed that the harrowing incident left her in tears as she was “not taking anything in”. She added that Steve, a former police worker, suggested they contact the authorities.

She added: “When we got to the house the police came round and interviewed Steve. I was breastfeeding, boobs were flying, there was a lot going on. Then they went to arrest him. It’s nuts. Rosie said that Steve “took the executive decision” to drop the charges against him as they relocated and were keen for a fresh start without attending court.

She concluded: “I still probably have mixed feelings about it. I do feel guilty not being there but I don’t think it would be healthy being in that situation.” Rosie and Steve are set to marry in Scotland this summer. Lorraine and Rosie’s dad met while working on TV-am in the 1980s and have been happily married for more than three decades.

Rosie, 31, recently said: “She may be everybody’s TV mum, but she’s not famous to me. I’ve never known anything different. She’s just my mum. The thing Mum always says is that everything is temporary, the good and the bad.

“And just be nice to people. It’s not hard. It’s actually harder to be horrible. She also says that you have to look after yourself before you can look after anyone else, including your baby. And my granny told me to be patient.”

Recently Lorraine confirmed she is going to be off our TV screens for almost two months as she shared a major update. The popular TV presenter, who fronts her self-titled ITV show during the week, has been battling an illness.

Speaking in a video shared on Instagram, she said: “Hi there. Just want to say thanks for the get well wishes. I am feeling a whole lot better. But this has been a bad lurgy. If you’re going through it yourself, you have my sympathy. It’s a tough one. But I am getting there.

“I will be off for a good few weeks. Not because I am not well, but because of course the changes to the show. We now do 30 weeks a year. So I won’t see you for a wee while, but I want to thank you for sticking with me through all the changes. I hope to see you when I am back on air. I never take it for granted and I really, really, really appreciate it. Thanks so so much.”

Catch Lorraine on The Last Leg tonight (Friday, April 3) from 10pm to 11.05pm on Channel 4. She will be joined by comedian Josh Pugh and internet personality Steve Bracknall, along with regular hosts Adam Hills, Josh Widdicombe and Alex Brooker.
