Khimberly Zavaleta death investigation: Juvenile arrested in Reseda school fight that left 12-year-old dead

RESEDA, LOS ANGELES (KABC) — An arrest has been made in the case of a 12-year-old girl who died following a school fight in Reseda, police confirmed to Eyewitness News on Thursday.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the person arrested is a minor. No further details were released.
The incident happened last month at Reseda Charter High School. Khimberly Zavaleta’s family says she was hit in the head with a water bottle, then later suffered a brain injury. She then died at a hospital.

The family has since filed a claim against the Los Angeles Unified School District.

The parents of 12-year-old Khimberly Zavaleta say they had reported multiple incidents of bullying involving both Khimberly and her sister, Sharon, to the school weeks before the deadly incident.
