Pat McAfee returns to WWE as Orton’s mystery caller and punts Cody Rhodes in the balls

Randy Orton returned home to St. Louis on tonight’s (Apr. 3) episode of SmackDown. The live fans loudly cheered for The Viper as he went on about how Cody Rhodes doesn’t have the killer instinct to beat him at WrestleMania 42.

Rhodes came out for a fight moments later, and the two stars began punching each other in the face. Cody had Randy down in the corner when a returning Pat McAfee suddenly entered the ring, wearing an RKO shirt and sunglasses. He laid out the WWE champion with a swift punt to the balls.

Then, as Orton destroyed Rhodes with a steel chair, McAfee cut a promo going on about how WWE sucks now with Rhodes as champion and undersized wrestlers flipping around in the ring for no reason. The current state of the business sucks, and SmackDown just had its lowest rated episode ever because of it. Randy is the one who can save it. Pat officially revealed that he’s the mystery caller who has been in Randy’s ear telling him to kill everything in WWE.

I mean, I guess it’s better than Travis Scott getting involved in the WWE championship main event program at WrestleMania again, but that’s the lowest bar possible. This looks like a pretty bad angle right now when it’s about how much WWE business sucks, and Pat McAfee now being a focal point of such an important story.

Let me know how you feel about WWE’s big reveal in the comments below, Cagesiders.
