First Alert: Scattered showers and storms for Friday

ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) – After rain and freezing rain impacted the region on Thursday, another potent system moves in for Friday. Showers and thunderstorms will be possible throughout the afternoon and evening.

Rainfall amounts on Thursday ranged from 0.50″ to 1.82″ in Spring Grove. Most locations saw around 0.50-1.00″ of rain on Thursday.

Another round of showers and storms will move into SE MN and NE IA Friday afternoon and evening. Precip will linger into early Saturday morning. As temperatures cool overnight Friday, a spotty wintry mix could develop early Saturday morning.
SPC outlook for Friday(KTTC)
The latest Severe Storm Outlook from the SPC has a level 1 threat of strong storms for all of the KTTC region. The main threats will be heavy rain, small hail, and gusty winds. Locally, the best chance of strong storms will be south of I-90.
Friday’s outlook(KTTC)
The first round of showers will impact the region around lunchtime on Friday. There will be a brief break by mid-afternoon. Another round of showers and storms will move into the region after 4-5 p.m. This second round could produce small hail.
