Greater Jakarta Weather Today: BMKG Forecasts Rain Across Areas

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) estimates that there is a potential for rain in all areas of Jakarta today, Sunday, April 5, 2026. However, the intensity of the rain is not uniform in every area.

According to BMKG, light-intensity rain is expected in Central Jakarta, North Jakarta, East Jakarta, and the Thousand Islands. Meanwhile, heavier or moderate-intensity rain is anticipated in West Jakarta. High-intensity rain accompanied by thunderstorms will occur in South Jakarta.

Around Jakarta, moderate-intensity rain is also expected in the Bogor Regency and Bekasi as well as in the city of Depok today. However, in the city of Bogor and Bekasi, BMKG predicts only light rain throughout the day.

The same also applies to Tangerang City and Tangerang Regency, where light rain is expected throughout the day, but in South Tangerang, moderate intensity is expected.

Unlike yesterday, there is no early warning for heavy to very heavy rain in Jakarta and its surrounding areas today. Nevertheless, BMKG still advises caution due to the potential for moderate to heavy rain.

BMKG has issued an early warning for heavy to very heavy rain today in several provinces, including Aceh, North Sumatra, Lampung, and West Java.

Saturday rain data in Greater Jakarta from the morning of April 4 to the morning of April 5, shows the highest rainfall in the northern part of Bogor City and the surrounding Bogor Regency. The rainfall reached 122.4 mm, classified as very heavy, as measured by BMKG at its monitoring station in Atang Sanjaya, Bogor.

The rain in Greater Jakarta yesterday was uneven. Rain was more widespread in the western part of Jabodetabek, with most areas experiencing moderate-intensity rain of 20-50 mm. For example, in Lebak Bulus, South Jakarta, and Pantai Indah Kapuk, North Jakarta.
