Maine law requires many stores to close on Easter

In accordance with Maine state law, many large stores will be closed this Easter. The holiday is one of the three major holidays impacted by Maine’s longtime blue laws, which are rules put in place to prevent activities on Sundays and holidays, typically for religious reasons.According to current state law, any store that is larger than 5,000 square feet in its interior retail space cannot be open on Easter, Thanksgiving or Christmas Day. Calling in advance is advised to confirm whether the business you’re looking to shop at will be open during regular hours.
