Both soaps will air on ITV1 on Easter Sunday

Both Coronation Street and Emmerdale will air tonight (Sunday, April 5) in a schedule shake-up on ITV1. The soaps usually air in their separate time slots every week night, but fans sadly missed out on Tuesday’s instalments this week due to football coverage. Therefore, ITV has scheduled in an episode of each soap tonight to make up for the missing broadcast earlier this week.
Soap fans missed out on the drama in Yorkshire as well as in Weatherfield due to sports coverage on ITV1 on Tuesday (March 31). The broadcast of England vs Japan started at 7pm, ready for a 7.45pm kick-off-time live from Wembley.
The coverage ended at 10.05pm, which meant Coronation Street and Emmerdale were taken off the schedule.
However, viewers will be pleased to know they won’t fall short this week. Easter Sunday has just got a bit brighter as ITV has scheduled episodes of both soaps to air tonight instead.
Emmerdale airs at the earlier time of 7pm, followed by Coronation Street at 7.30pm.

It isn’t the first time this has happened, as both soaps also aired last Sunday after cancellations earlier in the week.
Fans were not happy with the decision to remove Coronation Street and Emmerdale from their schedules and many took to social media to express their opinions.
One said: “So fed up of Corrie being taken off air for football, especially at the height of a big storyline” while a second said: “So annoying when Corrie is moved for football.”
A third said: “With all the extra channels nowadays surely they could just put the soaps on one of them instead of not being on at all every time some sport is on.”
A fourth said: “ITV really needs to have a channel called ITVSports” while another added: “Surely just upload on ITVX? Then we can watch anytime.”
Thankfully, the soaps are back in their normal schedules this week.
Emmerdale airs Monday-Friday at 8pm on ITV1 and ITVX, with Coronation Street at 8.30pm.
