Liverpool identify Alonso as Slot replacement
Liverpool have identified Xabi Alonso as their ideal choice should Arne Slot depart as manager, according to transfer reporter Romain Molina.Despite winning the Premier League in his first season, Slot has endured much scrutiny this term, with the club languishing fifth in the Premier League and knocked out of the Emirates FA Cup after a humiliating 4-0 quarter-final defeat to Manchester City.
And according to French journalist Molina, the Reds have identified former Real Madrid and Bayer Leverkusen boss Alonso, who played for the Merseyside outfit between 2004 and 2009.
”The management has handled the hot topics very well, especially with Salah and so on”, said Molina.
”Overall this year they have shown a lot of composure, they have supported the coach and everything. Honestly, well done to them.
”They proved that in difficult times, the hierarchy must be respected. However, as you know, they have been working on Alonso for a very long time.
”It was announced when he was already at Real Madrid. It’s no secret because Slot, in all likelihood, will not be on the Liverpool bench next year. The management has been won over by Xabi Alonso for a very long time.”

Enzo Fernandez wants Chelsea stay
According to French publication Foot Mercato, Enzo Fernandez wants to stay at Chelsea, despite suggesting he would be open to a move to Real Madrid interviews over the international break.
Fernandez has been forced to sit out two Chelsea games after manager Liam Rosenior accused him of ”crossing a line” with comments he made over his Stamford Bridge future.
Despite the comments and subsequent ban, Foot Mercato claim Fernandez is looking to stay at Chelsea, with his representatives negotiating a contract extension and pay raise that reflects his central role in the team.
The Foot Mercato report claimed: ”Despite his suspension, Enzo Fernández remains focused on his future at Chelsea. Despite his comments about Real Madrid, his representatives are prioritizing [sic] a contract extension with a pay raise that fully reflects his key role within the team.
”The goal, it is reiterated, is to secure him a central and recognized [sic] place in the club’s sporting project.”

Cancelo open to Barca stay
Joao Cancelo admitted that while he had ”options” he was open to staying at Barcelona upon the expiry of his season-long loan from Al-Hilal.
Speaking ahead of Barcelona’s UEFA Champions League encounter with Atletico Madrid, live on TNT Sports and HBO Max, the Portugal international said: ”Anything can happen in football.
”I’m going to keep working and I know what I want for next season. I want to help Barca stay in this competition and win La Liga. That’s the most important thing. My future isn’t relevant right now.
”There are always options. I have a contract with Al-Hilal. I am an Al-Hilal player, who is on loan at Barcelona.
”But there are always options. Football can change in a moment, we’ll see what happens. At the start, they weren’t having these conversations, they were having doubts, saying I was finished, and here we are. I’ll keep working until the end.”
Real Madrid would consider Camavinga sale
According to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, Real Madrid are open to the sale of Eduardo Camavinga should they receive a ”big proposal”.
The France international, who failed to track his runner in the build-up to Mallorca’s opener on Saturday, has long been linked with a move to Liverpool.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Fabrizio Romano said: ”We should remember that Camavinga is a very important player. Maybe he had some difficult moments, also against Mallorca the other day, not in his best form.
”But he remains a really, really important player. We’re not talking about a player that is completely out of the Real Madrid project.
”Real Madrid don’t consider Camavinga out of the project or a player they have to sell at all costs.
”But… if they receive a good proposal, Real Madrid could consider the situation of Camavinga in the summer. That’s the case, that’s the situation.
”Then, if this big proposal that’s attractive for Camavinga and attractive for Real Madrid doesn’t come, Real Madrid are not desperate.”
