CERILLI, Rosa

In Loving Memory of Rosa (Tucci) Cerilli – 89 years
Sunday, April 5th, 2026 at Health Sciences North, Sudbury.
Beloved wife of Sebastiano Cerilli (predeceased in 2016). Loving mother of Pio (Rosaria) and Aldo (Disma). Cherished grandmother of Julia, Vanessa and Massimo. Dear daughter of Aurelio and Eleonora Onorina Tucci both predeceased. Dear sister of Fiorino (Maria Luisa) Tucci of Toronto both predeceased, Leda (Riccardo) Bailonni of Supino both predeceased, Giovanni Tucci predeceased (Rachele), Dario Tucci of Supino predeceased. She is now reunited with them in heaven. Zia Rosa will be sadly missed by many nieces and nephews.
Born in Supino, Frosinone (Italy) in 1936, she married Sebastiano in Supino in 1957, she travelled from Italy by ship landing in New York and made her way to Canada settling in the West End of Sudbury where they started their new life together that lasted 59 years.
Her love for all her family was boundless, she was said to be the mother of all (la madre di tutte). Rosa genuinely cared for her family and friends and was most happy when she spent time with them. Rosa’s mind was like a steel trap, remembering birthdays, weddings, anniversaries and deaths, without writing anything down.
A woman of true faith, she attended mass regularly until her mobility held her back, after which she would watch mass on the television every day, she prayed daily and recited the Rosary daily.
She worked for many years as a seamstress for different companies, Mrs. Leppa dressmaking in the early days, Rina’s bridal shop and then settling in with Jack Fraser Men’s wear until she stopped working, although she continued her craft at home for many years and was still eager to fix and mend clothing and other things until a short time ago.
For Rosa, her pride and joy was being in the kitchen creating a variety of meals, baked goods and was famous for her “sponge cake”, but don’t try to get the recipe from her, she wouldn’t give it up. An avid gardener, reaping the rewards of her labour with an abundance of vegetables every year working side by side with Sebastiano to do so. Rosa enjoyed family dinners, family picnics and any opportunity to be in the company of all his family members.
Rosa was a member of Our Lady of Hope Parish and the Catholic Women’s League.
We will all miss you, and look forward to seeing you again. Go in peace Rosa Cerilli – sister, wife, mother and grandmother, you will live on in all of us.
