Masters primer: Remembering back-to-back Jack (Nicklaus); TV, streaming times for Thursday

The Masters at … 60
A look back at notable Masters anniversaries through the years
1966
To many golf fans in the 1960s, Jack Nicklaus was the usurper. If four-time Masters champion Arnold Palmer was The King, Nicklaus was the black knight, the villain on the golf scene. But after Palmer won his last Masters in 1964 (also his last major), Nicklaus truly began to assert his dominance — and gradually win over fans. He won the 1963 Masters between Palmer’s last two titles, then won again in 1965 by nine strokes over Palmer, posting a then tournament record of 17-under par 271. The 1966 Masters was a totally different story, however. Nicklaus, Tommy Jacobs and Gay Brewer tied at even par 288, with Nicklaus winning in a playoff the next day to become the Masters’ first back-to-back champion. Brewer would win the green jacket one year later.
