Road reopens after tanker crash

Long delays were reported at the Dartford Crossing following an accident involving a tanker, a lorry and two cars.

The A282 was closed clockwise at Junction 1 for Dartford for several hours due to the crash, which caused tailbacks over the QEII bridge into Essex on Thursday, April 9.

The vehicles were removed, but the road had to be cleaned following an oil spillage.

At the time National Highways explained in a post on X: “This is due to a traffic collision. There are delays of up to 40 minutes, with 7 miles of congestion.”

At around 6am today, April 10, National Highways confirmed The A282 reopened after contractors completed their work, and the road was made safe.

KentOnline has contacted emergency services for more information.
