’48 Hours’ correspondent Peter Van Sant previews ‘Kimberly Langwell’s Hidden Grave’

A decades-old Beaumont cold case is back in the national spotlight as CBS’s “48 Hours” revisits the disappearance and murder of Kimberly Langwell — and how a secret grave finally revealed what happened.

The episode, “Kimberly Langwell’s Hidden Grave,” airs Saturday at 9 p.m. on KFDM Channel 6.

“48 Hours” correspondent Peter Van Sant spoke with KFDM anchor Aaron Drawhorn on Friday about the episode featuring this Beaumont cold case that was solved after 24 years and 11 months when Terry Rose was arrested for Kimberly Langwell’s murder.

“48 Hours” will walk CBS viewers through the 1999 disappearance of Langwell, a Beaumont mother who never made it home after leaving work — leaving her teenage daughter searching for answers for more than two decades.

WATCH FIRST SEGMENT OF ’48 HOURS: KIMBERLY LANGWELL’S HIDDEN GRAVE’:

Langwell’s daughter, Tiffani McInnis, was a teenager when her mother vanished, beginning a years-long fight for answers and justice.

Investigators say the case went cold for years until new information surfaced more than 20 years later, prompting Beaumont police to reopen the investigation. That lead ultimately pointed detectives to a secret grave, where a “horrific discovery” revealed Langwell’s fate.

The case is one KFDM viewers have followed closely. In 2024, Beaumont police arrested Langwell’s former boyfriend, Terry Rose, after investigators uncovered human remains buried beneath a bedroom floor at his home — a discovery made using cadaver dogs and ground-penetrating radar.

Authorities say Rose told an informant he killed Langwell in 1999 and buried her on the property. He has since been indicted for murder.

The “48 Hours” report features interviews with key figures in the case, including:

Tiffani McInnis, Langwell’s daughter

  • Detective Heather Wilson, Beaumont Police
  • Former detective Joe Ball
  • Lt. Mitch Sliger and Detective Jesus Tamayo, Beaumont Police
  • Luke Nichols, Jefferson County prosecutor
  • Tim Miller, founder of Texas EquuSearch

The broadcast also highlights the emotional toll on McInnis, who spent decades not knowing what happened to her mother before the case finally broke open.

Correspondent Peter Van Sant reports from Beaumont on the investigation, the breakthrough, and the push for justice after more than 20 years.
