Manchester Airport horror as man seriously hurt after falling from Jet2 plane

Jet2 said a ‘full’ investigation has been launched into the incident at Manchester Airport

A man believed to be an aircraft engineer was seriously injured in a fall from the back of a plane at Manchester Airport. Paramedics were scrambled to the airport early on Saturday morning after the horror incident.
The man, who hasn’t been named, suffered serious multiple injuries including leg and arm fractures, the Manchester Evening News understands. It’s understood he remains in hospital after the incident at around 8am on Saturday.

Photographs taken at the scene show ambulances and fire service response vehicles surrounding a Jet2 plane in the immediate aftermath.
The airline, meanwhile, confirmed that a ‘full’ investigation has now been launched.

According to witnesses, medical screens were placed around the injured man during the emergency services response. It is understood the man was a contractor working for Jet2 at the time. He hasn’t been named.
The plane is seen in the images with a rear door open near the tail. Mobile stairs used for passengers are also seen nearby.
Manchester Airport confirmed North West Ambulance Service attended the incident. It’s understood the plane was due to depart to Tenerife.

A Jet2 spokesperson said: “We are aware of an incident that took place at Manchester Airport this morning (Saturday 11th April) involving an individual from a third-party provider. We are unable to confirm further details at present, however, can confirm that a full investigation has been launched.
“We are doing our best to provide support to everyone who needs it.”
The airline provided no further comment with regards to the incident or the subsequent status of the flight.
