On this Monday’s “Jam’ n Java”, Robby Robinson will host a tribute to honor the music, life and legacy of world-renowned musician, Harry Kim.
On April 10, 2026, the music world lost a driving force and true legend, with the death of master trumpet player, Harry Kim.
A faithful Christian, community servant, compassionate soul, beloved father, and true friend to one and all…Harry Kim was a shining light in our world…who will never be forgotten by his family, friends and fans.
His daughter Kris Kim stated, “It is with a heavy heart that I share that my father lost his battle with Cancer today but is now rejoicing in the presence of the Lord with my mother.”
Not only was Harry Kim an extraordinary musician of the highest caliber in his own right, his talents were consistently sought-after by major recording artists. Harry Kim performed alongside the best-of-the-best in the industry.
Harry Kim has worked with musical legends such as Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons, Tony Bennett, Quincy Jones, Stevie Wonder, Earth, Wind and Fire, Marvin Gaye, Aretha Franklin, The Four Tops, The Temptations, and Smokey Robinson to name a few.
Harry Kim was an arranger and horn section leader, performing live on “American Idol”, “Dancing With the Stars”, “America’s Got Talent” and “Celebrity Duets.”
Harry Kim served as the longtime trumpet player for Phil Collins, whose representative gave the following statement, “We’re saddened to hear of the passing of Harry Kim, an extraordinary musician, and friend, who performed with Phil for decades.”
Harry Kim worked closely with Phil Collins on the 1989 album “…But Seriously” and dedicated his extraordinary talents to supporting Phil Collins, as the leader of his horn section, “The Vine Street Horns” on worldwide stages, and served as music director and arranger for “The Phil Collins Big Band.” He performed with Phil Collins on several albums and a multitude of major world tours.
Harry Kim was a dear friend and collaborator of Robby Robinson, host of Jam’ n Java, #1 Hypeddit recording artist, producer at Robby’s Records, and longtime music director, keyboard player and member of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons.
“Friday, I lost a dear friend… one of the world’s truly great trumpet players… my brother, Harry Kim. Anyone who was touched by Harry never forgot him, he was a force of nature. Social media is already filled with tributes from some of the greatest musicians in the business and for good reason. His résumé was enormous. His talent was undeniable.”, said Robby Robinson. “Personally… he was part of my musical inner circle. We shared hundreds – if not thousands – of musical moments together over more than 30 years… including so many Frankie Valli shows. This Monday night on Jam’ n Java, I’ll be dedicating the entire show to Harry’s life and legacy. So much great music… so many unforgettable moments… and some very special memories I want to share with you. It’s a tough one… no question about it. But I also know—without a doubt—he’s in a better place. I also know the world is better for having had Harry Kim in it and I’m grateful I got to call him my friend. I’d love for you to join me Monday night on Jam’ n Java as we honor him together.”
