Josie Gibson’s Taste Of The West Country | Preview (ITV1)

Proud Bristolian Josie Gibson takes us on a tour of her beloved Westcountry. This is a journey of celebration; discovering dinner delights, freshly caught lunches, the best of passionate artisan makers and growers as well as a few hidden gems to surprise us all…and who better to join her culinary adventure than local food champion and Michelin starred chef Paul Ainsworth. Taste of the Westcountry is a delicious delve into the land of beautiful coastline, rural retreats, and unique culinary traditions.
Josie begins her South West tour in the county known for its rich history and architecture, and the picturesque villages of the Cotswolds. Josie saddles up for a scenic ride before meeting Adam Henson and his special pigs, braving one of Britain’s pongiest cheeses, and adorning her medieval glad rags. She also helps make chef Paul Ainsworth’s decadent fondue with mustard written about by Shakespeare.
In the second episode, Josie heads to the county of apples and cheese, where ancient caves and landscapes continue to inspire visitors. Josie boards a traditional train to explore the magnificent Somerset coast, getting a lesson in oyster shucking and cider-making and discovering the secrets of Cheddar Gorge.
Then, Josie travels to the Jurassic Coast and tries her hand at a unique sport, Dorset knob throwing before meeting a group of local scallop-divers making the most of British waters. She also meets a championship nettle-eater and harvests the ingredients for chef Paul Ainsworth’s sumptuous watercress soup.
Next, Josie visits the county where national parks and beaches are abound to discover some of the old legends of Dartmoor, visit an organic lamb farm, and join a team of passionate gig rowers. She also explores beautiful Westcountry vineyards and meets Mitch Tonks at his Devon fish market.
In the last leg of her Westcountry adventure, Josie gets acquainted with the Cornish sea with a coasteering jump, before meeting passionate dairy farmers. She also picks fruit for chef Paul Ainsworth’s delicious strawberry trifle and catches her own lobster for a scenic BBQ right on the beach.
