‘The Boys’ Karen Fukuhara, Tomer Capone’s steamy sex scene is just as bizarre as it is romantic: “Your bottom half, has it fully regrown?”

The Boys writers must be allergic to writing a normal sex scene for the show because Kimiko (Karen Fukuhara) and Frenchie’s (Tomer Capone) steamy reunion in Season 5, Episode 2 is as bizarre as it is romantic.
Season 5 kicks off with an episode that sends the action into hyperdrive, as fans saw Homelander slaughter practically every person detained at the Freedom Camp before tragically killing A-Train as well. The brutal opening episode makes Kimiko and Frenchie’s sex scene in Episode 2 feel all the more pleasant, even if it gets interrupted by an earnest, yet strange, moment.
Kimiko, with her newfound ability to speak, does not hold back after realizing Frenchie supports Butcher’s plan to release a deadly virus that could annihilate all Supes on Earth in a desperate bid to kill Homelander. She reminds him she has faced death and pain countless times and lived to tell the tale, but being injected with the virus in Season 4 brought her to the brink of real pain. “That was the only time I wanted to die,” she confesses to Frenchie. “Butcher’s going to do that to me and you’re okay with that.”
What results is a refreshingly candid moment between the characters, serving as a reminder that they have been brought together by impossible circumstances, and may not live to see the end of it.
“This is happening with or without us so I must learn everything I can about this pestilence so I can protect you,” he tells Kimiko. “To think I would let anything take you away from me again.”
The moment was so sweet, I caught myself worrying if this happy moment might hint that one – or both – of these characters could meet their tragic end, considering Erin Moriarty told DECIDER “no one is safe” this season. But there’s no time to focus on that. Things are already starting to heat up between Kimiko and Frenchie after she orders him to take his clothes off.

The characters don’t skip a beat when Frenchie asks Kimiko if her “bottom half” has “fully regrown,” considering she had just been ripped in half in Episode 1.
“My vagina is tingly and damp,” Kimiko responds. A simple yes would do!
You can’t ignore the earnestness in their line delivery. This is a match made in heaven.
But Frenchie and Kimiko cannot keep their hands off of each other now that they’re finally reunited. The couple absolutely ravish each other in this steamy sex scene as Frenchie takes his time to become intimately reacquainted with Kimiko’s body that was, quite literally, severed in half. Capone has always played Frenchie as a romantic, but he really turns up the heat here as he caresses Kimiko’s skin and peppers her with kisses.
While she is playfully pushing him and ordering him around, Frenchie reciprocates by handling Kimiko with such gentle care. It’s impossible not to appreciate the romance of their love story; Kimiko grew up as a child soldier and was experimented on with Compound V. But here she is, finding solace and protection in a former killer-for-hire like Frenchie who is desperate to turn over a new leaf.
Frenchie’s grew to love her even when they could only communicate using their secret language. But Kimiko regaining the ability to speak undeniably reignited a spark in their relationship. They can barely keep their hands off of each other throughout these first two episodes of Season 5, making for several hilarious and dramatic makeout sessions in front of all of The Boys.

The sex scene also happens directly after Annie (Moriarty) uses sex to distract Hughie (Jack Quaid) from talking about what happened in the year they’ve been apart. Annie has only become more jaded and hardened by leading the Starlighters in a losing battle against Vought. Rather than face it like Kimiko and Frenchie have done, she seems desperate to cling to any semblance of normalcy she can. But they have to adapt to survive this fight.
This steamy scene between Frenchie and Kimiko highlights the absurdity that makes The Boys so fun to watch. The series isn’t necessarily known for its sentimentality, but Kimiko and Frenchie deserved this kind moment after everything they’ve gone through.
Fans can only hope the rest of the gang also get a happy ending as The Boys hurtles towards what will surely be a bloody and dramatic finale.
New episodes of The Boys air Wednesdays on Prime Video.
