LOS ANGELES − LL Cool J is bringing Special Agent Sam Hanna into a new “NCIS” series.

Cool J will headline “NCIS: New York” in the 2026 CBS fall schedule on Tuesday nights (9 ET/PT), CBS executives announced on Wednesday, April 15. Former Navy SEAL Hanna returns to his hometown of New York City in the latest expansion of the “NCIS” franchise.

“LL is like a member of the CBS family,” Amy Reisenbach, president of CBS Entertainment, said at the unveiling of CBS’s 2026-27 schedule, where Cool J’s return was the big surprise. “There’s a huge port and Navy presence in New York City. It just makes creative sense. We thought there was so much opportunity with this series.”

Cool J has been on most every “NCIS” show while starring on “NCIS: Los Angeles” for 323 episodes from 2009 to 2023 − including four episodes of “NCIS” and 12 episodes of “NCIS: Hawai’i,” which was canceled in 2024.

To prep viewers for his return, Cool J will guest star in two upcoming “NCIS” episodes (April 21 and 28). Hanna will be partnered with a roguish special agent played by Scott Caan in “New York.”

Cool J acknowledged the return on Instagram, posting an NCISverse video of an iPhone ringing to the “NCIS” theme, with Hanna’s face, amid the sounds of NYC traffic. Solid video.

The addition makes Tuesday night all “NCIS” this fall, with the flagship series (which just celebrated its 500-episode milestone) at 8 ET/PT, “NCIS: New York” at 9 ET/PT, and the story that started it all, “NCIS: Origins,” at 10 ET/PT.

“NCIS: Sydney” will pick up in the midseason on Tuesdays at 10 ET/PT.

‘Cupertino’ to take on tech world the same night as ‘Eternally Yours’ comedy

The fall schedule includes the new legal drama “Cupertino,” about a wronged lawyer (Mike Colter) partnering with a young attorney (Rachel Keller) to battle Silicon Valley giants. The hour-long drama is created by Robert and Michelle King, who brought the critically acclaimed “The Good Wife” to CBS (2009 to 2016).

“The Kings are the perfect showrunners to tell timely legal stories of this AI and tech-driven world,” said George Cheeks, CEO of CBS.

“Cupertino” will air on CBS Thursdays at 10 ET/PT.

The vampire comedy “Eternally Yours,” made by “Ghosts” executive producers Joe Port and Joe Wiseman, will begin on Thursdays at 8:30 ET/PT. The “eternal love story” follows two vampires who have been married for 500 years and their struggles to accept the human dating their undead daughter.

‘Marshals’ going strong on Sunday night

Luke Grimes and “Yellowstone” spinoff “Marshals” got a special shout-out, remaining in the key Sunday at 8 ET/PT slot this fall after premiering March 1. “Marshals” was the second most-watched series premiere of the TV season, with 26.5 million viewers on CBS and Paramount+ over 28 days. Only the final season of Netflix’s “Stranger Things” was ahead, with 30.6 million viewers after 28 days.
