It’s been a few months now since Brooklyn Beckham posted the Instagram Story heard ’round the world, accusing his parents, Victoria and David Beckham, of trying to “ruin” his relationship with his wife, Nicola Peltz, and saying he’s been “controlled” by them “for most of my life.” Since then, family relations do not seem to have thawed — Brooklyn and Nicola haven’t been seen with the rest of the Beckhams in over a year, though Victoria and David did wish Brooklyn a happy birthday on their Instagram Stories last month amid their estrangement.
Now Victoria has a new profile out in The Wall Street Journal, where she alluded to their very public family drama. In the interview, Victoria responded to a question about the situation with Brooklyn but did not mention him by name. “I think that we’ve always — we love our children so much. We’ve always tried to be the best parents that we can be,” she said. “And you know, we’ve been in the public eye for more than 30 years right now, and all we’ve ever tried to do is protect our children and love our children. And you know, that’s all I really want to say about it.”
Victoria also mentioned how different it has been parenting her children now that they’re grown up. “Being a parent of young adult children and adult children, gosh, I mean, it’s very different from having little children,” she said. “I think that we’re trying to do the best we can.”
