Tornado Watch In Effect For Rochester And Surrounding Counties Until 7 PM

Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News)- Rochester and the surrounding communities in southeast Minnesota are included in a Tornado Watch.

The National Weather Service in La Crosse issued the Watch at 12:40 p.m. on Friday, April 17. It’s scheduled to expire at 7 p.m. on Friday, April 17.
Olmsted, Dodge, Goodhue, Fillmore, Mower, Houston, Wabasha and Winona Counties are include in the watch.
Severe Weather Predicted to Hit Southeast Minnesota Friday Afternoon
The National Weather Service is predicting another round of severe weather to strike southeast Minnesota Friday afternoon.
“An additional round of severe weather will move into the region early this afternoon and depart before sunset. Large hail (2-3″ diameter), damaging wind gusts and a few tornadoes, perhaps some strong (EF2-EF3) will be possible. Be sure to have multiple ways to receive warnings and to promptly head to your safe location when a warning is issued,” the National Weather Service says.

“The main threats with this watch are large hail, damaging winds, and the potential for a few tornadoes. Be sure you have multiple ways to receive warnings since there’s a high probability we’ll be issuing some this afternoon/evening,” the National Weather Service says.
